Upcoming Event: Otakon 2014

Every year, the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Maryland is taken over by tens of thousands of anime fans, young and old alike. We descend upon the city for one reason: Otakon, the proclaimed “Convention of the Otaku Generation”. This year, the convention will take place from August 8 – 10. With the convention seeing a continuous growth in numbers throughout the years, the powers that be were sadly forced to put an attendance cap of 35,000 people in place this year, so if you would like to attend and have yet to register, you may want to get on that. Are you attending Otakon? If so, what are you most looking forward to? Anime premiers? The AMV Contest? The Masquerade? Cosplay? Spending too much money in the dealer’s room? Tell us in the comments below!

Christian, anime fan, and gamer are a few words you could use to describe me. I've been a Christian since 2012 (and thought I was one prior to that), although I'm far from having the Christian walk down pat. At one point I started thinking about how I could use various things for Christ, and eventually put my thoughts to action, resulting in Cosplay for Christ (my attempt at a cosplay ministry) and Christian Anime Review (my review blog). As you can imagine, I enjoy playing games, watching anime, and going to anime conventions. I also like to build Gundam models, fiddle with the guitar (occasionally), and listen to music (mostly Christian rock and metal).

I will be going, I definitely am interested mostly in the panels. I also take a lot of pictures, but the reason I love panels is to learn what people have come to discover about anime through their research. I also love hearing voice actors talking about their work. I am currently working on a panel about Christianity in anime and I pray for God’s guidance in my research and preparation.

Hi alex, my name is Michael. I’m interested in helping you out with your panel on Christianity in Anime for a panel. I myself recently did a panel called “Spirituality in Anime and Video Games” in SuperCon here in Miami, FL beginning of July. Went super well, had over 50 people come! Place was packed, no more chairs. Didn’t expect it but it happened. Willing to share what I learned and help in any way, God bless ya!
