2017 Twitch Pledge Drive: Making an Impact

As our platform at Geeks Under Grace continues to grow, it’s amazing to think that there are people reading our website today that weren’t with us just a year ago. With that in mind, it’s very possible you might be reading this and not even know about our Annual Twitch Pledge Drive we have each Spring. It’s our biggest fundraising opportunity, and, crazily enough, some of the most profound ministry work we’ve witnessed has taken place during the live-streams. It’s a special time, and it has become a high point of the year for many of our fans. I’m going to take a moment to let you know about the event, and, hopefully, you’ll be excited enough to attend and invite others!

Get hyped!

You probably know by following us that we love games at Geeks Under Grace. Not only do we review and write about them, but we also play them LIVE on a nightly-basis on our Twitch page. For those who don’t know, Twitch is a social video platform where a user plays a game, with other viewers online watching all that goes on. Our Twitch team plays different games every night, which keeps everything fresh and exciting for those who watch. Not only can people worldwide watch the gameplay, but they can also interact with the player who is streaming and spark discussion in the comments. Twitch has become amazingly popular as a platform in recent years, so much so that, during our streams, we’ve had people request prayer and talk about their faith in Jesus. It’s a humbling experience for our team with real ministry impact, and it’s honestly one of the purest ways we can express support for people right in the very moment of their struggles. While some Twitch streamers can be crass, we at Geeks Under Grace strive to keep conduct appropriate on our channel for people of all ages, even as some of the games we play may be of a Teen or Mature rating. In that regard, viewer discretion may be advised.
Many online video platforms have a cost of some kind for users, be it through subscriptions or purchases, but with Twitch, everything our team does is of no cost to viewers. Anyone can watch us nightly for ABSOLUTELY FREE! That’s during the normal nightly streams and even during our 72-Hour Pledge Drive. During our pledge drive, we have a YouCaring page set up for the event, and all tax-deductible proceeds given help our ministry function and grow into new areas of reaching people. We have BIG plans this year, and every dollar raised helps us get closer to new ways of bridging the gap between geek culture and Christianity. As an added bonus to all who give, donations also enter donors into our hourly giveaways, where we will be distributing gift codes to games.

I write this piece in anticipation of our event; there is still some time until it starts. Still, you can help Geeks Under Grace now by visiting our YouCaring page at www.YouCaring.com/2017PledgeDrive. All those who contribute, even prior to the event, are entered for the giveaways. It’s a great way to help us get a jump on things, and with the Lord’s blessings, even our goals can be far-exceeded.
The event will take place on our Twitch channel: www.Twitch.tv/GeeksUnderGrace. Again, even now, you can visit there nightly and watch our streams. If you didn’t already know by now, we love that you are a part of Geeks Under Grace. We want people to know everything we do is to enrich the lives of other believers, even in the ways of streaming games and discussing pop culture, which may seem unconventional to some Christians. To know the love of Jesus and experience His mercies is what life is all about, and we hope you’ll continue to be a part of Geeks Under Grace and support that vision.
