Final Trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies Released

The apparent final movie in the Middle Earth world has had its final trailer released. Fans of the series will be lining the theaters soon to see Peter Jackson’s last film of the Hobbit trilogy. This trailer does a lot to get us excited about it. The film releases in theaters on December 17th of this year.

From this new trailer, we can tell that Thorin is receiving a healthy amount of criticism from all sides for some decisions he has made in returning his people to their home. It appears an epic battle between elves, orcs, men, and dwarves is mounting as we see all of our favorite characters preparing for battle including Bilbo, the dwarves, Elrond, Thranduil, and even Legolas as he battles the white orc, Azog the Defiler. This trailer reveals we will have a lot of amazing action to look forward to!

One character that is ambiguously missing is the one with his name in the title of the last film: Smaug.

At the end of the last movie we see him fly into the city, and it appears he plans to seek revenge on its citizens for the loss of his home. It will be interesting to see where the legendary dragon fits into the picture and how large his role will be. If you have read the books, please don’t spoil it for the rest of us!

From a Christian fantasy-lover’s perspective, it is nice to see a movie series that is directed by a Christian and is derivative of a work from a Christian. In a genre known to be particularly dark and can be quite immoral, it has been refreshing to know these films would be relatively safe for us before seeing them. I suspect this film will be the same.

Are you going to see The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies when it releases in theaters?
