The end of season 1 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. brought about a new initiative from Marvel that combined their hit show with some of the top artists from around the world. An art print was announced alongside season 1’s final six episodes, each hinting at the episode’s plot points. The art prints were then put for sale on Marvel’s online store for $50 with a limited printing of 100 prints each.
Today, through an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Marvel announced The Art of Evolution. This was announced just in time for next week’s mid-season 2 premiere of SHIELD. For the next few months, the poster will first go up on Entertainment Weekly’s website every Thursday before being added to Marvel’s store at 12:30am PT the following Friday.
Marvel also revealed the first print of The Art of Evolution. This piece features a concerned-looking Skye, a furrow-browed Coulson, and an Inhuman Raina above the unforgettable image of Skye during her terrigenesis transformation during season 2’s mid-season finale. If this is any indication of what the first episode will be like, looks like things are really going to be shaken for the SHIELD cast. The first art piece was done by artist Gabrielle Dell’Otto, who was actually one of the co-creators of Marvel Comic’s Daisy Johnson (who is the character that Skye is based on).

If last season’s prints were any indication, we have some great art works ready for collection. Don’t forget to tune into Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Tuesday, March 3rd at 9pm ET. Last season’s prints also had a special printing of specific Marvel comics as variant covers. Here’s a look at the six prints from last season, The Art of Level 7.
