WWE Fastlane 2015 Predictions

Welcome to the Geeks Under Grace predictions of WWE’s Fastlane of 2015!

This year’s PPV & WWE Network exclusive Fastlane is what is being called WWE’s last stop before the annual WWE extravaganza Wrestlemania. Fastlane takes place in Memphis, Tennessee, at the FedExForum. The main promotional poster for the event features only one WWE Superstar, and that man is Roman Reigns. Reigns is our 2015 Royal Rumble winner and will compete at Fastlane to retain his earned privilege to face the WWE World Heavyweight Champion for the championship at Wrestlemania. I am joined in this predictions article by Steve Schoen and Mike Pyatt, and we seem to be expecting many of the same outcomes.

So let’s all Get in the Fastlane to Wrestlemania!

Rusev with Lana vs. John Cena

Steve S.

I’ve been waiting for Rusev’s so-called streak to end for some time now. After spending a decade on top, seeing him compete for the U.S. title is a bit shocking. Be that as it may, he’s still the company show pony and workhorse, so I simply cannot fathom Rusev beating John Cena in a fair fight. I believe Rusev will win through dishonest means, furthering the rivalry and setting up a match at WrestleMania.

Winner – Rusev

Mike P.

I have no idea at all where they want to go with this match. My gut says Rusev will get the win at Fast Lane and then lose the next two matches to Cena–first at WM, and second sometime after that. Cena looks completely out of the title picture for a while, and they may use him to build up the US title, which could be a good thing in my opinion.

Winner – Rusev

Steven K.

Rusev made his main roster debut at last year’s Royal Rumble in 2014. One year later and the Bulgarian brute is the United States’ champion and has yet to be pinned or made to submit. I expect Rusev to get disqualified by attacking Cena with a foreign object, which would then make John Cena the winner and lead to a re-match at Wrestlemania. This match may be opening the show for Fastlane, so look for Cena to get some revenge on Rusev after the match in order to get a good reaction from the audience.

Winner by Disqualification – John Cena

Nikki Bella with Brie Bella vs. Paige

Steve S.

I’m a big fan of Paige. She’s setting herself up such that I’ll cheer for her, whether she’s working heel or baby. Nikki has had a respectable run, but Paige needs a win here to keep the feud going. Brie will most certainly attempt to interfere on behalf of her sister, but I believe Paige will still come out on top.

Winner – Paige

Mike P.

If you’ve read my post before, you might notice that I rarely show Diva matches any love. And I won’t do that with this match either. One way or another, I think we will get the sister vs sister match at Wrestlemania.

Winner – Nikki Bella

Steven K.

I have never considered the Bella Twins to be very entertaining, but I have been a fan of Paige since seeing her at an NXT show here in Jacksonville, Florida. Based on nothing more than my personal biases, I pick Paige to leave Fastlane as the New WWE Divas champion.

Winner – Paige

Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan

Steve S.

Surrounded by fan controversy since the Royal Rumble, Roman Reigns is in a position that is both enviable and unenviable. If he wins, he’ll be living his dream of headlining WrestleMania, but will undoubtedly be reviled by the fans (and the IWC). If he loses, he’ll have to climb the ladder all over again, and most fans still won’t appreciate him. That being said, Daniel Bryan will give Reigns the match of his life, bringing all of his technical wrestling abilities to bear. Reigns will have to overcome this in a convincing manner if he’s to have any chance of gaining credibility with his critics. I believe Reigns will go over here, but, for his sake, it had better be one heck of a show.

Winner – Roman Reigns

Mike P.

I liked the ending to Monday Night Raw with these two. Sometimes, you just can’t be buddy-buddy anymore. You have to settle your differences with fisticuffs. Granted, I use my words to settle disagreements, but I’m not a trained WWE wrestler. WWE messed up once again with their main event, and they’re going to try and salvage it again by putting on another, rushed, triple-threat main event at Wrestlemania.

Winner – Draw, Double Disqualification

Steven K.

This match was created to drive up WWE Network subscriptions because Vince McMahon, Triple H, and every other WWE Employee is well aware that the WWE Universe wants to see Daniel Bryan leave Wrestlemania WWE World Heavyweight Champion once again. Though I will admit that Daniel Bryan simply becoming WWE World Heavyweight Champion is not enough to bring the network subscriptions to that magic 1,000,000 subscriptions number WWE needs. We know just featuring Bryan as a main event talent is not enough to drive up subscriptions because WWE did not reach their goal in number of subscriptions at last year’s Wrestlemania event. As a member of the IWC (I am a wrestling fan and I know how to use a web-browser), I want to see Daniel Bryan vs. Brock Lesnar, but we won’t have that this year. Roman Reigns is in the Fastlane to becoming a regular main event talent, and this Wrestlemania will be the dawn of the Reigns era whether the WWE Universe likes it or not.

Winner – Roman Reigns

Bad News Barrett vs. Dean Ambrose

Steve S.

Wade Barrett a.k.a. “The Man of Stolen Gimmicks” is going to get pounded into the mat by Dean Ambrose. There’s really not much else to say. I, for one, am tired of seeing Wade Barrett on television, and it’s time we had an I/C champ that can bring respect back to the belt.

Winner – Dean Ambrose

Mike P.

I really didn’t like the way this match came about, but hopefully when it’s over I won’t care about it. We get to see Dean Ambrose get a chance to head to ‘Mania with a belt; it might not be the belt some want him to have, but it could be a belt none-the-less. What I’m interested in is, if Ambrose does win, after Barrett gets his rematch, who would his next rivalry be against?

Winner – Dean Ambrose

Steven K.

Bad News Barrett is so diversely talented, but how can I take a man seriously with a name like that? If Barrett were billed as Wade “Bad News” Barrett that would be one thing, but why can’t these superstars have real first and last names? Due to his name, I cannot be a fan of Barrett; he is just a walking, talking gimmick. Dean Ambrose is extremely talented, both in ring and out, and I think if WWE were to want to create a strong, consistent mid-card, Dean Ambrose would be a perfect addition. I see Ambrose leaving with the IC Championship belt.

Winner – Dean Ambrose

The Usos vs. Tyson Kidd & Cesaro

Steve S.

This match is taking place mostly because of Goldust and Stardust’s in-fighting. The tag team division has been in a lamentable state for years. While I’m no fan of The Ascension, it’s good to see more “whole unit” teams like them entering the fray. I believe the Usos will retain here, but hope that Cesaro and Tyson Kidd give them a good match and stick around in the tag division for a while.

Winners – The Usos

Mike P.

Should be a good match to watch. I don’t have any problems watching the Uso’s fight. Of course, we all love to watch a good Cesaro and Kidd match here and there. So yes, I’m expecting a good match. I think the Uso’s go over here so they can carry the strap to Wrestlemania.

Winners – The Usos

Steven K.

It would be a shame to see The Usos lose their tag team championships in a match that’s just thrown together like this one.

Winners – The Usos

The Usos vs. Stardust

Steve S.

I missed a fair portion of the buildup in this feud because of life circumstances, but its occurrence is of no surprise because the WWE likes to keep its tag division in a constant state of disarray by splitting up their tag teams. There’s really no good way for this to end, but I predict Stardust will win. Goldust is simply trying to bring his brother back to his senses, whereas Stardust will likely be playing for keeps.

Winner: Stardust

Mike P.

You know what I would like? I would like if Dusty cost Goldust the match by helping Stardust win. Honestly, it doesn’t make sense storyline-wise, but whatever.

Winner: Stardust

Steven K.

We really should have seen Goldust vs. Stardust at this year’s Wrestlemania event. I, personally, am unhappy with the end of Goldust and Stardust as a tag team because I believe there is still so much they could have accomplished as a team. I do believe we will see them compete once more at Wrestlemania, so I believe Goldust will beat his little brother here, and at Mania we will see Cody Rhodes return to conquer Goldust.

Winner: Goldust

Ryback, Erick Rowan, Dolph Ziggler vs. Kane, Big Show Seth Rollins

Steve S.

Yay. Another six-man tag match. It’s funny how WWE handles their talent sometimes. Seth Rollins, who is primed to be the top heel in the company, and who gave a very good performance at the rumble is now fighting in a six-man tag match. I see this as a step down for him, but, that being said, I believe this match is a vehicle to help Seth gather even more shine. J&J Security will get involved without a doubt, and the three poor faces will each end up on the business end of a curb-stomp.

Winner – Seth Rollins

Mike P.

This should be another good match. I know we all detest 6-Man tags at times, but when you have Rollins and Ziggler in a match, you know you’re going to get something. Plus, Rowan has impressed me at times. For a big dude, he can really go. I expect the “renegades” to pull off the win in this match.

Winners – Ziggler, Rowan, Ryback

Steven K.

This match is a main event for a “Pay Per View?” We should have simply seen Dolph Ziggler vs. Seth Rollins. I would personally pay $5 additional out of my pocket right now to watch Dolph Ziggler vs. Seth Rollins in a main event match for a PPV on the WWE Network. Seth won’t get pinned by any of these jabronis.

Winner – Seth Rollins
